Entwined

This is something I'm submitting for a poetry contest. The theme of the first round is 'Ocean'...Pray it wins =P

It's a dark breeze under a veiled moonshine

As those tentacles of liquid creep upon me

While swirling surf and changing form

Drag me home from an earthly shore

Into the depths of the beginning of life

Floating in a watery womb.

And even before that, a primordial soup

Brewing with passion in a new universe...

Ocean, take me back to dawn.

Show me the mermaids and the pirate ships

Comforting illusions and gruesome truth

Lone seagulls on a blue, blue sky

Aimlessness, ambition, and the eyes' sooth.

You are my freedom and my love for adventure

You are my monster, my worst, my first

You are my fickleness, flexibility and change...

Ocean, take me back to dawn.

Entice me with your moves, your music, ancient as time

Drown me into your depths and shallows

Lick my lips dry with your water salt

Thrash me through the fury in your marrow.

I have lived and learned to understand your moods

Your joy, exhilaration, lament and love

You are my baser instincts, a part of me...

Ocean, take me back to dawn.
